Week 5 answered some questions and created new ones.  We saw a fantastic comeback by Fantasy Baseball Search in a big win over Melnick & Greco 8-2.  Probably the biggest win of the week goes to Roto Authority taking Fantasy Baseball Generals to the shed 7-0-3 in the first league shutout.  Questions are now brewing, has Fantasy Baseball Generals bullpen pitching strategy.  Can anyone beat Roto Authority.  What happened to Fantasy Baseball Mafia.  Is Fantasy Baseball Search over-rated or one of the best teams in the league.

Email us at thetrueguru@fantasybaseballsearch.com with your comments and we will post them in the blog and mention them on the radio show.

Melnick And Greco 2

I know that I am bias, but this was the best match up of the year so far.  Not because of the play, but because of the drama and the comeback.  Paul Greco's Melnick and Greco team lead the whole week.  Everything was in their favor because the two travel days (off) killed my offense.  couple that with rain outs and many of my hitters facing pitchers like Peavy, Webb, and Santana I was doomed.  Going into the weekend swing Greco was winning 5-2-3 and was winning big in home runs, runs, and average.  On the pitching side I had WHIP and saves, that's it.  Even after Saturday I was still down 3-5-2, but I had closed many gaps except for average.  Then Sunday came. As expected Paul's offense was not up to the challenge and sputtered failing to hit any home runs.  I managed to get 2 from Chipper Jones and Kevin Youkilis and that got me the home run category.  I then pitcher streamed 3 pitchers, two of them Aaron Cook and Todd Wellemeyer were great  and the results were awesome.  Both helped me secure ERA, WHIP, and a 3-1 victory in wins.  My strategy paid off big time this week.  Chipper Jones remains the hot player on my team with 2 more home runs and .500 batting average.  Overall both teams performed poorly, but the better team go the win.  Below or the individual and team stats for each team.

Fantasy Fanatics 5
Mock Draft Central 5

This was an unexpected outcome from one of the best teams in the league playing one of the worse up to this point.. MDC actually lost ERA and WHIP, which no one expected and on offense he only managed to pull out average and stolen bases.  Fantasy Fnatics had a great week and show surprising strength in taking on one of the better teams by winning home runs 8-6 and RBIs 36-26.  The biggest surpirse was the performance of his pitching staff taking ERA and WHIP from the team nicknamed Pitching Gods.

Fantasy Baseball Geeks 4
Baseball Geeks 2

This is the first match up of the rival Baseball Geeks and Fantasy Baseball Geeks and round one goes to Fantasy Baseball Geeks. This match up was very tight with 4 ties and neither team getting 5 or more wins.  FBG did come out on top and sneak by with wins in average, runs, ERA, and saves.  Rob at Baseball Geeks pulled out home runs and WHIP.  Both teams played very well and would have beaten most other teams.  FBG out lasted Baseball Geeks in the end from Adrian Gonzalez and Jose Reyes.
