Week 4 was a week of big match ups and big wins for teams.
Patrick :The General" DiCaprio faced off against a top contender in Fantasy
Baseball Mafia, while Roto Authority squared off against big time Mock Draft
Central. In the West Division brothers clashed with Pro Fantasy Games
going down to Fantasy Baseball Search and masters of disasters Melnick&Greco
tying with Baseball Geeks. Those and other great match ups headline
this league in week 4 along with two trades of significant impact. The
McGowan.Damon trade isn't much for impact on the league, but Paul Greco
trading away his #2 draft pick in April for a hot Derek Lee, who was drafted
in the 4th round is signaling weakness in his team. Was it too early
for Paul to trade Phillips for Lee. Email us at
thetrueguru@fantasybaseballsearch.com with your comments and we will
post them in the blog and mention them on the radio show.
Trades this week:
Pro Fantasy Games traded Dustin McGowan for Johnny Damon from Fantasy
Baseball Geeks.
Pro Fantasy Games traded Derek Lee for Brandon Phillips from Melnick and Greco.
Notable Free Agent Pick Ups:
Players Added: Edwin Jackson, Aaron Cook, Gregg Smith, Jon Garland,
Carlos Quentin, Ryan Ludwick, Fred Lewis, Todd
Wellemeyer, Emil Brown, John Lannan, Kyle Loshe, Gerald Laird, and Max Scherzer.
Players Dropped: Jayson Werth, Jake Westbrook, Chad Gaudin, Daric Barton,
Rick Ankiel, Mike Pelfrey, Jorge Cantu, Cla Meredth, Joey Gathright, Scott
Shields, and Carlos Quentin.
THE MATCH UPS
Baseball Geeks 5
Melnick And Greco 5
This was a stellar match up between to very similar teams.
Melnick & Greco have been scuffling a bit over
the past two weeks and Baseball Geeks came in 0-3 against experts.
Throughout the week this match up was very tight and one of the best to watch.
Even know it ended up in a tie both teams won. Lets break down this
match up and see how each of them did. On the offensive side it was all
Baseball Geeks 4-1. He easily won average, RBI's, and stolen bases
behind th eplay of Mark Teixeira, Orlando Hudson, Miguel Cabrera, and the man
of the hour Carlos Quentin. He did lose runs by 1 lousy run, so he
nearly had the sweep. Both teams were very week on home runs and
Baseball Geeks edged out Melnick and Greco 6 -5 in that category. Paul's
team had a poor offensive week only getting good production from Victor
Martinez and the newly acquired Derek Lee.
On the pitching side it was all Melnick & Greco taking it 4-1. He
through 80 innings to do it compared. The only category Paul lost was
saves 8-3, but he won all the categories that did not involve relief pitchers
heavily. He managed to win 3 games behind performances from Felix
Hernandez, John Maine, and Edinson Volquez. Rob wasn't able to get much
in wins, but with only throwing 58 inning beat Paul in almost every other
category, but he didn't stream as much as his opponent did and it cost him.

Fantasy Baseball Search 6
Pro Fantasy Games 3
Thiswas a good match up between experts and brothers and at
the end of round one it goes to Fantasy Baseball Search. FBS continued
its somewhat surprising surge through the league of experts winning its 4th
straight week to go 4-0 against opposing experts. Even with major slumps on
his offense from Robinson Cano, Adndruw Jones, and Carlos Beltran he
continued to put up huge numbers winning all 5 offensive categories 5-0.
FBS pounded out 10 home runs to PFG's 7. RBIs was not a contest 44-21
and either was average. Runs was tight and only one by 1 run.
The pitching side was much different being won by Pro Fantasy Games 3-1-1.
Chris managed to have some great starts from his starting pitching, but they
couldn't pull in enough wins to go 4-0. Clay Bucholz lost a
heartbreaker for him as did Manny Parra. Todd's pitching staff was
happy to see the emergence of CC Sabathia, but watched as Oliver Perez and
Gavin Floyd let him down. The big story for Fantasy Baseball Search
this week is the loss of Manny Corpas from the bullpen to Brian Fuentes.
Luckily he had Fuentes and he notched 1 save as well.

Fantasy Baseball Geeks 7
Rotodoc.com 3
Sean over at Fantasy Baseball Geeks finally got on the winning
side of things dominating a tough Rotodoc.com team 7-3. Rotodoc held
stonr in the offensive categories winning 3-2 with great play from several
players including Albert Pujols, Pat Burrell, and Jacoby Ellsbury. FBG's
did take the power categories; home runs and RBI's with the help of Garrett
Atkins, Adrian Gonzalez, and Nate McLouth. On the pitching side it was
all Fantasy Baseball Geeks going 5-0. It wasn't really a competition in
any category except saves as FBG's managed to throw 53 great innings and wrap
up every category. Adam Wainwright, Randy Johnson, and Y. Gallardo were
sharp this week for Sean. He did notch his second expert victory in as
many weeks. This was a tough week for Rotodoc who after winning two
straight weeks to lose a tough one this week.
