"Quent"in Rome use your Shields

There were some eye-opening drops yesterday that prompted me to quickly grab up the players and then search the injury wires to determine if there were injuries that led to the drops.

Carlos Quentin for Chad Gaudin and Scot Shields for Derrick Turnbow.

I guess I was the lucky recipient of a Mafia Pitch-and-Ditch-Move and a Guru need for saves.

I mentioned on last week's BaseballGeeks podcast that I wasn't yet convinced with Quentin, but the power potential in that dump called Comiskey is too great to pass up or let go of for now. And, Quentin made me sleep better when he hit a HR after I picked him up. Homeruns rarely feel good when they are hit on my bench, but that one did.

And, as for Shields... a sub par year for him so far, but as I sort of half-agree with the DiCaprio school of head to head strategy (I think it makes a lot of sense to play a lot of solid middle relievers) it made perfect sense to snag Shields. He has certainly been one of the best of the lot for the last three or so years.

I wanted to DRAFT Shields, in fact. So, this move feels good, too... and both of these guys get immediately placed in my line-up.

Once again, I'm locked in a tight race with Melnick & Greco. That is all I will say on that issue for now. :)
