Expert League Average Draft Grades From The Fantasy Baseball GURUS

Well guys I tried to get all my posts in before the show, but I ran out of time. I'll stop at 6 because you can now listen to the latest installment of the Fantasy Baseball GURUS radio show and listen to all the details of what I, Patrick DiCaprio, and RC thought of the expert draft.

Each one of us gave each player a ranking (1-12) based on their draft performance. I then averaged our three rankings and here are the final results of the show:

12. Stoney's Lounge - Average ranking 10.67 - Lowest expert ranking 9, highest 12.

11. Rotodoc - Average ranking 9.67 - Lowest expert ranking 8, highest 12.

10. Melnick and Greco Fantasy Sports - Average ranking 9 - Lowest expert ranking 5, highest 11.

9. Baseball Geeks - Average ranking 8.33 - Lowest expert ranking 6, highest 10.

8. Fantasy Fanatics - Average ranking 7.67 - Lowest expert ranking 5, highest 10.

7. Mock Draft Central - Average ranking 6.67 - Lowest expert ranking 2, highest 12.

6. Fantasy Baseball Search - Average ranking 6.67 - Lowest expert ranking 5, highest 8.

5. Roto Authority - Average ranking 5.67 - Lowest expert ranking 1, highest 10.

4. Fantasy Baseball Generals - Average ranking 5.33 - Lowest expert ranking 2, highest 7.

3. Junkyard Jake - Average ranking 4.67 - Lowest expert ranking 3, highest 7.

2. Fantasy Baseball Geeks - Average ranking 3.33 - Lowest expert ranking 3, highest 4.

1. Fantasy Baseball Mafia - Average ranking 2 - Lowest expert ranking 1, highest 4.

Good luck in the season guys!

I'll have to listen a little more in depth, but I was surprised that (I think the Guru) attributed my lower ranking to a lack of strikeouts...

Especially considering that I have three of the top fifteen SO piotchers from last year AND Billingsley who had a better k/9 ratio than all three of those guys.

I noticed on the poll that Mock Draft Central is running a close second in voting for best team of the listed ones. I guess my criticism of the strategy based on offensive matchups isn't persuading anyone. Thats the great thing about this game!

A serious proposal-next year lets try to encourage as many divergent strategies as possible; I think the fans would love to see how creative experts could be with no strings attached. It may be interesting to do a mock draft for example with nine picthers, 12 hitters and no positional requirements.

It's important for everyone to remember that we still have to play the games.

Talk to me at the All-Star break.
